“There is no passion to be found playing small–in settling for
a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
– Nelson Mandela
I came across a story the other day by Davon Huss, that helps to strengthen this message for you today. “Two strangers, a man and a woman, meet for the first time and instantaneously a spark of interest is ignited. They begin meeting once a week for dinner. But that isn’t enough. Their growing interest in one another demands more contact. Result: their telephone bill soars. They far surpass the maximum minutes allowed on their cell phones and the bills move from $40 a month to $300 a month.
What happened? Did they suddenly fall in love with the idea of telephoning? Did they develop a passion for the cell phone? No, they developed a passion for each other. They used the cell phone as their tool for feeding, maintaining, and developing their passion for one another. No one talked them into their using their phones more, or explained to them the benefits of phone usage. It was their passion for each other that drove them, not their passion for the phone.”
As you got up this morning, were you forced out of bed or was there an excitement to get the day started? Either you will be drawn out of bed with a passion & self-determination or live in a state of wanting to stay there forever. Do you have any drive to face each day or is this a big struggle for you? Has the questions, how could my day be better? Or how can I boost my day ever flooded your mind or heart?
As an entrepreneur, business owner or even an aspiring one, is there anything in life that gets you excited, fired up, thrilled, motivated, hopping, skipping, jumping, dancing, adrenaline pumping, thank God I’m alive to experience this?
If nothing hits the spot, well I guess it’s time to get your Zzz’s. Not so fast my friend not that one, let’s deal with our subject matter first. What kind of ‘zeal’ do you have? What is a zeal?
Zeal:
1.Enthusiastic devotion to a cause, ideal, or goal and tireless diligence in its furtherance.
2.Eagerness and enthusiasm.
Look at the popular television show American Idol and how much zeal and self-determination these people express when they see the chance at their big break. Zeal is the thing that gets your adrenaline pumping about a particular thing, whether that’s getting more clients, a new product or service, or seeing the potential for growth and development in your personal life. Sometimes it may be a long road ahead, and you may have experienced that this level fluctuates at times. I’m sure you have seen times in your life when you were so excited and motivated you could have carried the world on your shoulder, right? Then there were those days like life felt so hard and things felt like it was weighing you down.
Did you know that those days of high energy and zeal were meant to carry you a long way? It’s like when you fill your car with gas to take you where you need to go, that’s providing you did the right thing. The more you have, and use it wisely, the further you can go.
Therefore in those days when you’re at high peak it is wise to be as productive as possible. It doesn’t matter how high your level is, the reality is that you will face some challenging days. During those moments is when you can reflect on the accomplishments and the progress of times past. This should be a positive factor because it should recharge, and help you stay motivated and focused even in times of crisis. All in an effort to get and keep your juices flowing again to go after your intended goal.
Everyone that was successful in life, faced days of opposition and wanting to give up. It’s what you do in the face of opposition that determines the results you get in life.
Above all things, there is nothing in life that you should have a greater zeal for than God and the things he desires. “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a Zeal of God,..”. Romans 10:1-2 (KJV).
You must bear in mind things will pass away but God will last forever.
Warning:
Please stay away from these zeal blockers:
1. Negative people – Many times their lives are not going anywhere and so they are always on a mission to zap the faith, hope and dreams out of you.
2. Corrupt lifestyle – If you have a passion to please God, definitely not the way to go. The devil always has an attractive offer for you but in the end will lead to your destruction.
3. Procrastination – Think about the last thing you said you was going to get done? Now how many months & even years has that been? It’s time to overcome procrastination, he is a thief that will rob you of your best life.
4. Disobedience – Here’s the thing about this, it’s not always the outside enemy. Sometimes your own flesh will aim to lead you into disobedient paths. Yes, just a reminder that you can be your greatest enemy. Hence, the need to always be prayerful and asking God to help you, lest you disobey.
5. Separation from God – If he is the source of your zeal, how can your life bring forth good fruit without him? If your life doesn’t end up barren, then it will be filled with things that have no connection with God. I’m sure you know who is behind that.
Please feel free to let us know your views on this and help us by sharing this with your friends.
See you again soon.
Take care until………and God Bless ya
On a scale of 1 – 10, 10 being the highest what’s your zeal level at this time for God, life and business? What do you need to work on the most?
