The Challenges of Uncertainty in Business
You start out with a great dream, desire, goal for your business. In the moment you see anything is possible. That moment is charged with excitement as you imagine all the numerous things you envision happening for your life and business.
Then reality kicks in, and you’re faced with struggles and unseen outcomes. The struggles of finding customers on a consistent basis, fear of failure, competition of more established businesses, customer issues, wearing numerous hats & managing your time, find ways to grow that works and so on.
At times, uncertainty in business can feel like Moses with the children of Israel standing in front of the Red Sea & Pharaohs army chasing you with no where to turn. Situations like that results in two things, trust God to bring you out or let fear take a hold of you and let your business or dream die.
Why Trusting God is Essential for Christian Entrepreneurs
I believe that you have had some good and bad experiences in the area of trust. Psalm 118:8-9 (KJV) –“It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes.”
So, how do you trust God when the path is in clear, or you can’t see? You know the reason why you can’t see? Keep on reading. I want to remind you that trust means to put confidence or put one’s confidence in. When you’re looking at this word trust, the verse says “it is better.”
It doesn’t matter what situation you are in right now, God has a better position for you to be in. That better means a higher quality, better means more appropriate, more suitable, more
valuable, more preferable. And so, you have to realize in the midst of that, God has a better
position for you to be in. And that’s why it says to put your trust in him.
And when you look at these two verses of scripture, what I see is they are similar scriptures, but the difference is they have different endings. One says not to put your trust in man, the next says to not put your trust in princes.
And what I saw was that there was general man. And then in princes, which is talking about actual leaders, people of influence and people of title. A lot of times we can put our trust and our confidence in so many different persons.
Sometimes we put more confidence in political leaders, leaders of various organizations and guess what happens? They fail us, they fail us. And we try again, and they fail us and they fail us. So what is that telling you? When you put your trust and it’s leaning in the wrong direction, it will end up in failure. Aren’t you tired of failing?
You must realize the leaders of this world right now, what they have faced and are facing, many of them do not know what to do. Because this is something, I’m talking about these times, all of us have never been faced with before on the face of the earth. And so that’s why it’s going to take your trust in God.
Being an entrepreneur, and a Christian one on top of that demands deep trust in God. In numerous cases, it is your only source of revenue, income or whatchamacallit.
Let’s say on top of that, you want to grow personally & professionally. You know what that leads to? A mindset shift, because you have to move away from fear that arises because of uncertainty to faith-based action. In times of uncertainty, action takes trust.
Understanding Why You Can’t Always See the Path Ahead
Now, let’s get back to the question I asked earlier. Do you remember it? “Trusting God when you can’t see. And you know the reason why you can’t see?”
When the path is not clear, and the reason why you can’t see, is because you are in a maze. No, I’m not talking about amaze as in astonished . I’m talking about a maze, two separate words. A maze is actually a puzzle. When we look at the word maze, it’s talking about a path or a collection of paths typically from an entrance to a goal.
Do you feel lost at times, maybe even right now? The situation that you are in now, I want you to realize that there’s still is a way out. When you try to get through a maze, you go one way and then you come to a dead end. You try to go another way, then you come to another dead end. You’re trying to figure it out or how to get out of this situation. There is a way out and it’s through, trusting God when the path is not clear and you can’t see.
Just like navigating life’s maze, your entrepreneurial journey is similar. You start in belief that you’re moving ahead, whether that’s just starting out or trying to grow or expand. You believe that you’re making progress and then you come to a dead end. You try again and fail.
You may even begin struggling with the thought of why is God keeping you in the dark? Ok, let’s address that, not knowing things at a certain point and time causes you to build trust, confidence and helps you to grow.
That’s the action step of moving forward in faith God’s way, during times of uncertainty and when you can’t see your way out. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6 (KJV).
Signs of a Lack of Trust in God
And so let’s talk about some quick ways that are signs of not trusting God, negative talking, that’s a sign of us not trusting God. Talking fear, talking defeat, talking lack of hope.
More signs, when you take full claim and
credit, e.g. I did this, I did that, you’re lacking the trust of God. And so you have to realize in the midst of that, when you stop asking God for help, meaning you stopped praying, that’s a sign that you stop trusting God.
When you look at it from the business side of life, you find yourself worrying and stressing out about uncertainty in the market place or potential business failure is consuming your thoughts.
And so it’s time for you to now do some refocusing in your trust in God. Yeah, I know sometimes it’s hard, but this is your sign to go at it another time.
Stories of Biblical Figures Who Trusted in the Dark
People who trusted God in difficulty. Zacharias and Elijah, they were childless, but they produced a John. The woman with an issue with for 12 years, fought through her situation, trusted God and she got her breakthrough.
Moses, stuck between the Red Sea and some angry Egyptians and God made a way out. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the midst of fire, and God delivered them.
I want you to realize, Proverbs 30 and 5 says, “he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” And so, getting results can bring you confidence in your trust in God. There is a way out.
How does this relate to your entrepreneurial and business experiences? Think about enduring long periods of no visible progress or facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. What do you honestly feel? Sometimes you feel like giving up, questioning about is this worth it? Is God concerned about my business and life? Yes, those situations and similar is what teaches you to trust God in dark times.
Practical Steps to Strengthen Trust in God
If you have failed in any of the areas that I have mentioned, and fell into a lack of trust, I encourage you to refocus your mind and spirit. Here’s a few quick things to remember and take action on, make it a habit for daily prayer time, scripture reading, study & meditation.
Ok, before you go further read that last “s” word above again. Study, now say it out loud with me “study”. Yes, study the word. There is a blessing in reading but studying it demonstrates an appetite for more.
Use affirmations, confess the word, APPLY the word of God to your life and business, APPLY the word of God to your life and business.
There are one of two situations you could be in as I’m sharing this with you. Either you need to continue to put your trust in God or you’ve been putting your trust in God and I’m here to tell you, there is a breakthrough coming.
I want to tell you quickly, as I wrap up, for 27 years, I believe and trusted God for a situation and God answered that around July 2020,
after 27 years. And so I want you to say to you that as you’ve been hanging on, hang in there because there is a reward coming for you. Continue to trust God when you can’t see.
I’m believing and praying that you won’t have to wait that long on your situation, but do embrace faith and patience. Even small wins and breakthroughs are to be celebrated as evidence of God’s goodness and faithfulness.
A Call to Trust in God’s Plan
In the lives of believers, entrepreneurs and business owners, trust is a non-negotiable. Trusting God is essential.

I just want to say thank you for this time and those that are struggling with the issue of trusting you. I pray right now in the name of Jesus for the strength, Father God, to lean to you and to lean to your understanding and Father God in the name of Jesus, the one that have been waiting and trusting in you Father God. I pray right now for the breakthrough in their lives.
