“You may delay, but time will not.”

Benjamin Franklin

Are you experiencing anything of this sort in your life? Is the busyness of life and business causing you to put off your spiritual growth efforts and walk with God?

If you’re like most entrepreneurs, business owners or even aspiring I know definitely you have your challenges. It’s what you do in the face of your challenges that makes the difference.

Today we’re going to be looking at the consequences of delaying a closer walk with God. You better believe up front that doing this can lead to varying issues from a lack of divine guidance, being personally unfulfilled, to ethical challenges and behaviors in business.

Understanding The Importance of Your Walk With God

It’s important to not only have a relationship with God, but to walk with him, or even want to walk with him as it first shows your humility in wanting to submit to his will and way. Be reminded that he is your creator and the one who has all authority over the kingdom. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Isn’t it sad how we can take delight or have a great desire to walk or be with so called kings in the earth, celebrities, or popular people and it rank higher than wanting to be with God?

Hate to burst your precious dream bubble, but you must realize that many of these people don’t actually care about you as an individual. They are great at putting on a show in front of the camera and public, but more and more they are being exposed for who they really are.

I urge you to put efforts in someone who is willing to sincerely love you and see you on the best path for your life and business. Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”

If your desire is to experience more inner peace, I encourage you to… walk with God. If your desire is to experience more wisdom… walk with a God. And especially if you’re desiring more divine guidance… definitely walk with God.

Testimony and Success Story:

Mary Kay Ash founded Mary Kay Inc. in 1963 with a commitment to “God first, family second, and career third.” This philosophy underpinned her business operations, emphasizing the importance of faith and family alongside professional success. Her company grew rapidly and became a global leader in the cosmetics industry.

Lessons Learned:

1. Prioritizing Faith and Family: Ash’s model of putting God and family before business demonstrated that success doesn’t have to come at the expense of personal values.

2. Empowering Others: Ash’s faith-driven leadership style inspired and empowered her employees, fostering a supportive and motivated workforce.

The Busy Life of an Entrepreneur

As I said earlier, your life is not without its challenges. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly, the fact remains it’s there. Anything from restrictions on your time, variety of stress causing issues, to the pressure to succeed.

Now here are some of the common excuses you find yourself using that hinders your spiritual growth (link to guide) and walk with God. “I’ll do it later,” pure procrastination at its best. And as you have experienced numerous times over and over, later keeps ending up into tomorrow.

“I’m too busy,” but busy doesn’t always mean productive. It will shock you if you take a moment to stop and evaluate how much so called busy time you’re just wasting doing unfruitful, unproductive things.

“My business needs me right now”, yes you’re so correct. Your business needs you and so does God. But if you keep delaying and putting your relationship with God on the back burner, how much of you will be left to give your business, customers or clients?

Delaying your spiritual growth and walk with God can lead you down a series of unnecessary challenges. Since we’re already this far, let’s not stay here. Let’s keep going cause there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Consequences of Delaying Your Walk with God

Lacking divine guidance: you tend to make decisions based on your own abilities, strength and intellect. Therefore you tend to leave out the spiritual insight to look deeper into a situation. Better decisions can be made by putting matters before God first. He knows what goes on behind the scenes that you may not see without him .

Increased stress and anxiety: being overwhelmed can often arise from stressful circumstances that you may face. A firm and growing foundation in God through Christ is what can help you be better equipped against the challenges in life and your business. You will be better positioned to cope against stressful and discouraging days.

Ethical challenges  – so many people out there are crying for more people with integrity in life and business. The lack of honest and number of individuals that won’t compromise is scary. That’s why we need more people like you that cares about deepening your relationship with god to maintain the proper standard of living and business operations that aligns with God’s character and his principles.

Impact on personal life development – most relationships are under heavy strain because of a lack of spiritual growth and personal development. Many are so quick to just blame others for everything that is going on in their life and business. Think of the life of Job, a man who still found the inner peace and strength to give God praise through his trials. How does someone find the way to do that?

Integrating Faith into Your Daily Business Life

Morning devotion: if a day cannot start without a morning, then why would we aim to be a villain and start our day without God? Just like the basics of pass, dribble, shoot is important in basketball, so is prayer, bible verses (word of God), activated faith is important to your spiritual wellbeing. Your personal daily devotional life should be intentional every day.

Prayer in decision making: do not aim to make decisions concerning your life and business on your own. God is your source that expects you to draw on him for guidance and direction. Seek him first!

Faith-based networking: do not aim to be a lone ranger in this world. The enemy is always seeking whom he may devour. As in the power of connecting with other entrepreneurs to grow and expand your business, consider an even greater value of connecting with other Christian entrepreneurs to gain support and accountability for your spiritual wellbeing.

Balancing work and faith: yes, your business needs to make money to sustain your family to live in this world, but prioritize your relationship with God. Maintain honesty and integrity in your business as you aim for excellence as a good steward. Set boundaries like, God’s time, family time & work hours. Stay active in a church ministry area to utilize your talents, and expertise while finding ways to donate to church and community organizations.
