“Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something
you want done because he wants to do it.”
– Dwight D. Eisenhower.
It was a wild and crazy frenzy as people were everywhere making their positions known. They flaunted their colors and paraphernalia and were very proud. Some of the people became so attached to it, they were making fashion statements.
Women had it embedded in their hair, clothes, shoes, etc. What was this all about? I’ll get to that shortly. My main concern was the effort, sacrifice and energy they were putting into it.
Don’t get me wrong, because it isn’t that the cause was wrong. My concern was, how much it was consuming people for this cause yet there are all kind of excuses when persons are needed for the cause of Christ.
Imagine this, people having the kind of courage and drive to spread a message and trying to convince others to believe in. By the way, they were unashamed in the colors and the organization they represented.
The major cause that had these people in this mode was, politics. All this and more were happening prior to the general elections in The Bahamas during that time.
What was different this time, a third party was offering themselves as the solution to the issues the nation was facing. Rallies were being held every few days as politicians, followers and supporters were in great attendance.
Political parties were traveling frequently trying to cover as much ground as possible as time was running out. Every party was believing the people would choose their party and they would emerge as the winners. And exactly how did the election results turn out? I will share that with you in a minute.
So, tell me what’s your thoughts on this? Has politics become a god in the people’s life? Is this an idol? How is it that some people can do so much for politics and the leaders involved and don’t or refuse to do these kinds of things for God?
What if people gave this kind of support to promoting the gospel of Christ? Imagine the kind of people we could have in our nation and on the earth. Think about the model entrepreneurs and business owners we would have. The promises of man is limited, but the promises of God are sure “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;…” 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV).
Can you picture leaders of today with the kind of integrity people can trust? How proud would you be as a citizen of your country? You will see leaders that stand for justice and integrity. Representation that would do what is good and right even if it is not popular.
If you think this will be a sight to see, think about how God will feel being able to see this pleasant sight from heaven.
In a lot of instances, you cannot blame the politicians for why they behave the way they do. Often times they only try to give the people what they want to hear.
As like the U.S. Marines is looking for a few good men, God is looking for a few good men (women included).“Wanted : Disciples of Christ”. Anyone need apply, he will equip you for the mission.
First of all, let me nominate a candidate that can deliver his promises. He will give you the best representation ever, address the real issues, drastically impact crime and seriously eradicate unemployment “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;” Matthew 9:37(KJV). The impact he is able to make in your life will last through to eternity. Ladies and gentlemen, entrepreneurs, business owners, and the aspiring, I nominate Jesus Christ.
Now here’s the best way to make this work. He needs more people to support his campaign. He doesn’t just need fans he needs loyal supports. He needs disciples. Fans are with you only in good times. Disciples stick with you all the time and all the way through.
He needs all hands on deck, especially yours. Yes, you can make a difference for the kingdom of Christ. Even greater news his kingdom has no end. Aren’t you willing to be a part of a government of righteousness, joy, peace, and love?
Let me warn you though, this is going to cost you everything “…, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple” Luke 14:33 (KJV). It’s only fair because the one who is willing to represent you is that kind of person, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,…”1 Peter 3:18 (KJV).
So, are you in? Are you willing to give him your vote? Vote on something that matters, vote for the greatest candidate ever, vote for the one who has your best interest at heart. Become a disciple of Christ and be equipped to change not only your neighborhood but change humanity.
Let the legacy of Jesus Christ live on forever.
